Block Accommodation Officer

Bridgwater & Taunton College Residential provision provides accommodation for students aged 16+ studying full time and on block release across any of our three campuses. The College s primary student accommodation is based at the Cannington campus and consists of 211 beds. The college also offers accommodation in Taunton alongside the 198 bed existing provision situated in Trull. The college has a rapidly expanding number of HMOs across Bridgwater and the surrounding areas, also utilising local accommodation options within Bridgwater.

The Residential provision was awarded Ofsted Outstanding following inspection in 2017.

The purpose of the role of Block Accommodation Officer is to provide a blend of administrative support to the Residential Team alongside direct interaction with our students, staff members and external providers.

A key priority for all Residential roles is to strive towards providing an Ofsted Outstanding provision.

The Block Accommodation Officer will progress allocations for block release (short stay) students, they will take the lead on completing Getting to Know You Meetings with the under 18 block apprentices, ensuring accurate records are maintained and GDPR compliance is observed.

The post holder will work closely with the Health & Safety Team as well as the Facilities and Maintenance Team to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.

The role is primarily based at the Cannington Campus, however, reasonable travel to other sites may be required.

Bridgwater & Taunton College are proposing to merge with Strode College in August 2025 to form a stronger College Group to continue to serve its learners, employers, and the wider Somerset Community.

Applicants who apply for a role at Bridgwater & Taunton College and who start their employment after 31 July 2025 will be contracted under the newly merged organisation to be known as UCS College Group (University Centre Somerset College Group)
