We are looking for an Employee Relations (ER) HR Professional to join our newly formed team who are experiencing a period of high demand and can hit the ground running to take ownership of a backlog of ER cases.

This is a temporary position (6 months), and we need someone now!

So who are we?

Known across the globe at our Birkenhead facility on the banks of the River Mersey, we expand across 130 acres which includes four dry docks, a large modular construction hall, and extensive covered workshops. We\’ve played a strategic role in UK shipbuilding for the past 200 years, repairing, maintaining, and building ships and other vessels.

And what will you do?

  • Manage and resolve a backlog of ER cases, ensuring timely resolutions
  • Provide advice to managers on handling disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes
  • Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues while maintaining compliance with UK employment law
  • Support the HR team in positively closing off legally-compliant cases where both the business and the employees are advised, informed, and up to date.

And what are we looking for?

  • CIPD Level 5 Human Resources Certificate
  • HR generalist background, fully conversant with all aspects of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience working closely with Trade Unions
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business and motivated to improve existing working practices
  • A self-starter, using own initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision, able to prioritise and work within timescales
  • A full UK Driving Licence will be useful due to the size of the facility.

If you\’re ready to take on this challenge and help us during this busy time, we\’d love to hear from you!
