Job Description
We're looking for a mid to senior Construction lawyer to join our client, a global technology company, to support them for at least 3 months.
You'll play a pivotal role in supporting and coordinating all legal aspects of the company's development projects from inception through to completion. While the core focus of the role is construction, there will also be some elements of legal management function, requiring oversight of the full legal unput across the development lifecycle. This includes:
- Leading negotiations and drafting of major construction contracts, particularly general contractor appointments for large-scale data center developments.
- Coordinating with internal legal teams and external counsel to ensure alignment with the company's risk profile and commercial objectives.
- Advising on procurement strategies, contract structuring, and risk mitigation approaches tailored to the fast-paced, high-value environment.
- Acting as the legal point of contact for development teams, project managers, and executive stakeholders, ensuring legal considerations are embedded in all phases of project delivery.
- Ensuring compliance with local construction laws, regulations, and permitting requirements across jurisdictions.
- Providing strategic legal input on claims, disputes, and change management processes as they arise during construction.
You will:
- have extensive experience in construction law, particularly in negotiating and managing large-scale GC contracts (e.g. FIDIC, JCT, NEC, or bespoke forms)
- have strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
- ideally have experience within a similar in house environment.
This assignment will be full time, with 3 days in the London office. It is due to start as soon as possible and is expected to run for at least 3 months.
If you're an experienced construction lawyer looking for your next opportunity, we'd love to hear from you!
