At Northern Gas Networks (NGN), were working on some of the biggest shifts in the UK energy system. And we are on the lookout for a Senior Regulatory Analyst who can help steer us through the rulebook and keep innovation moving. Reporting to the Market Regulation Manager, you will be part of our Energy Futures team, helping us bring hydrogen to life across our network. Starting with the East Coast Hydrogen project. You will make sense of shifting codes, evolving licences, and new reforms, and help us figure out what it all means for the future of energy.
Our head office is in Leeds; however other working arrangements can be discussed at interview.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Supporting hydrogen and low-carbon projects with clear regulatory advice
- Keeping an eye on regulatory changes from licence updates to industry codes (UNC, REC, SEC)
- Help NGN stay compliant, forward-thinking, and influential in shaping what comes next
- Collaborate with Ofgem, NESO, shippers, suppliers and Xoserve
- Take complex proposals and turn them into something our teams can actually use
- Spot and explain regulatory impacts early to keep projects moving smoothy

- Experience analysing industry change, identifying impacts, and helping delivering projects
- A naturally curious mind with a genuine interest in net zero and hydrogen
- Effective communicator written, verbal, and everything in between
- Comfortable working independently and juggling a varied workload
- Able to build strong relationships with industry stakeholders and internal teams
Qualifications & Requirements
- Desirable: Degree-level education (ideally in a business, energy, regulatory or finance discipline)

We are… Northern Gas Networks. We deliver gas to 2.7 million homes and businesses in the North East, Northern Cumbria and much of Yorkshire. Thats around 6.7 million individual customers. We dont generate or sell the gas, but we transport it to homes and businesses in our region through a vast network of underground pipes. In fact, we own and maintain more than 37,000km of gas pipes – enough to stretch from Leeds to Sydney and back again. We cover large cities like Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds, York, Hull, and Bradford, and our work extends to rural areas like North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
