Job Description
Design Manager

The Design Manager is responsible to the Programme Engineering Manager for design development aspects and has a key role throughout the project lifecycle.
This role will work closely with the Design Project Manager who will support on project management aspects, and the Lead Engineers who will lead their respective engineering domains. The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective engineering judgement, management skills, tools and techniques.
The purpose of the role is to manage the delivery and co-ordinate the technical engineering work packages to required scope, quality, schedule, and cost. This will include planning for and supporting integration with internal project stakeholder groups as well as external customer stakeholder groups.
What Do We Need
- Be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in the technical management of large scale and complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
- Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements.
- Strong understanding and experience of working in BIM environments.
- Sound project specification, planning, project management and budgeting experience.
- Sound understanding of Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety (including Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM) and Quality requirements.
Location
The role is Hybrid where 3 days per week will be spent in the office in Glasgow City Centre.
