Senior Software Engineer – QinetiQ, Manchester, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Senior Software Engineer responsible for leading the development of complex features that directly support QinetiQ’s mission of making the UK a safer place to be. The role offers design autonomy, technical leadership, and a strong engineering community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of large, complex features from concept to production.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert, guiding technical debates and solving critical defects.
  • Mentor and coach teammates, improve team efficiency, onboard new members, and dismantle knowledge silos.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, challenge design choices, and collaborate with customers to scope new opportunities.

  • Experience owning complex problems from whiteboard to production.
  • Ability to break down large, ambiguous problems into concrete, deliverable steps.

Working Hours & Location

Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week with flex scheduling. Core hours 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, office open 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, Monday‑Friday. Part‑time arrangements available. Occasional travel to local customer sites or other UK locations may be required.
