Commissioning Manager – UK, London – 12 Month Contract
Our client designs, constructs and operates some of Europe’s most efficient data centres, with pioneering the use of free air-cooling, unique monitoring systems and dynamic cooling. Dedicated to innovation, their state-of-the-art sites are some of the largest in Europe and were the first to guarantee power usage efficiency for customers.
With energy efficiencyat the forefront of their proposition they are already providing services to many of the well-known organisations in the defence, telecommunications, government and financial services sectors. Capable of operating at the highest levels of security, their approach to building out data centre campuses is constantly innovating, building to the operational requirements of its clients. People are the heart of this organisation with one of the lowest staff turnovers within the data centre industry. Currently, they are recruiting for aCommissioning Manager to join their project in London.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the commissioning programme with the general contractor
- Keeping the GC in line and ensure they deliver the programme
- Give internal and external customers/ stakeholders confidence in Commissioning process
- Deliver commissioning activity to time/cost/quality. Using initiative and common sense to balance the competing requirements.
- Ensure new designs can be commissioned sensibly within programme time and budget constraints
- Work collaboratively with the project team
- Develop strong working relationships at senior levels with a pool of external Commissioning Agents
Skills and Experience:
- Able to give confidence in the project commissioning activities internally and externally
- Has a good understanding of data centre engineering principles, and the practical understanding of how systems operate once installed
- Able to manage programmes and budgets
- Must have a mix of engineering & delivery capability
- Ability to manage, and take measured decision regarding project risk
- Able to apply different management styles as needed – e.g. with internal teams, external consultants, difficult contractors etc.
- Knowledge of Commissioning Levels 1-6
- Hyperscale experience preferable
