The Team

We are an award winning global consultancy and have been named Building’s Engineering Consultant of the Year in 2024, 2022 and 2021. We are at the forefront of the industry, priding ourselves on our exemplary track record of designing innovative and sustainable projects.

Sustainability runs through everything we do at Cundall, and our people are empowered to drive change and decarbonise the built environment. By the end of this decade, we have set ourselves an ambitious goal to only work on projects that meet our zero carbon design criteria, a commitment we have called our Zero Carbon Design 2030 goal. We need engineers who share this passion for sustainability and thrive in designing energy efficient buildings and communities.

Our Legal team’s mission is to play a key role in ensuring Cundall continues to grow as an internationally renowned and respected engineering consultancy, by providing legal advice and support across all locations in relation to risk, contracts, insurance, and other areas of legal impact.

The Role

We are looking for a talented and dedicated Solicitor to join our in-house team, to review and manage the contractual arrangements of our global projects. This represents a rare opportunity for a lawyer to take on or further a career in an “in-house” role, in a creative, interesting, and evolving business.

Working with the global business, you will take responsibility for the review of contracts and contractual arrangements, the production of advice, and undertaking contractual negotiations in relation to the same. In addition, you will be required to give advice and support in line with the implementation of Cundall’s legal risk management.

You will also take responsibility for other contractual advice such as the validity or otherwise of requests for assignments of Cundall’s appointments or for additional collateral warranties / third party rights / novation agreements / letters of reliance.

You may also be expected to undertakeclaims administration, debt recovery work and ad hoc miscellaneous legal advice.

The Skills

We are looking for a qualified solicitor with relevant practical experience but all applicants with suitable experience are welcome to apply. You will have utilised your analytic skills and strong attention to detail when analysing and drafting contracts and other legal documents. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in construction law and advising and negotiating on professional engineering consultancy appointments is necessary (both client bespoke and standard forms). In addition, experience in advising on areas like GDPR, IPR, commercial contracts, commercial litigation, professional indemnity insurance and building contracts is highly desirable.
