Salary Range: Β£1,413 β Β£5,652 per annum, plus additional incident call out payments
Hours per week: Minimum of 31 on-call hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
The Role:
An on-call firefighter is a paid person employed by the fire and rescue service who is βon callβ to respond to emergencies and engage with the community. They balance everyday life and work until activated by a pager, then become professional firefighters.
While called βpart-time,β on-call firefighters are trained, experienced, and vital to saving lives and protecting assets. They receive thorough training and develop emergency response skills and personal skills.
On-call firefighters come from diverse backgrounds. They may be at home, employed full or part-time, self-employed, studying, or unemployed. They dedicate their time to support the fire and rescue service and community safety.
This role is demanding but rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a significant contribution. They work closely with team members and participate in community events.
Responsibilities include fighting fires and handling various emergencies such as floods, road accidents, chemical spills, and animal rescues.
