In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
A Typical Day in the Job:
- Become a Security Guardian: You\’ll be at the forefront of DCBL\’s IT security, actively managing user access, implementing vital security policies, and configuring software with precision to protect critical data, escalating any issues to ensure robust system integrity.
- Master Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide crucial IT support across multiple channels (Jira, Teams, Phone, in-person) for internal teams and external vendors, expertly diagnosing and resolving issues using tools like Command Prompt and TeamViewer to keep operations running smoothly.
- Build & Maintain IT Infrastructure: Get hands-on with hardware, from constructing desktops and laptops from the ground up, upgrading components like RAM and SSDs, to installing structured ethernet cabling and ensuring seamless network connectivity for all devices.
- Deploy & Optimise Software Solutions: Take charge of installing, configuring, and upgrading essential company software (e.g., Proclaim CRM, SAGE), ensuring correct versioning, access levels, and performing crucial system and application updates across the business.
- Navigate & Create Technical Documentation: Develop your expertise in interpreting complex technical documentation, utilising internal knowledge bases, vendor specifications, and external resources for informed decision-making, troubleshooting, and maintaining comprehensive audit trails in Jira.
- Excel in Service Desk & Escalation Management: Learn to prioritise and manage IT tickets effectively within Jira, communicate realistic timelines to stakeholders, and strategically escalate complex issues to ensure timely resolution and high levels of user satisfaction.
- Contribute to Core IT Projects: Play a vital role in practical IT projects, including the repeated building of machines (gaining significant experience) and assisting with business-wide software rollouts, directly impacting DCBL\’s operational efficiency.
- Explore Emerging IT & Automation: Gain valuable exposure to cloud technologies and their application within the business, with opportunities to develop basic scripting skills (e.g., via Command Prompt) to automate tasks and enhance problem-solving capabilities.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- £23,111.52 per annum
- Salary is paid weekly
- Working Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
- 36.5 hours per week
- 30 days holiday including bank holidays
