We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes – all while providing platinum customer support to our clients.
Our Team:
Our Content Acquisition (CA) owns the acquisition of data contributed to Bloomberg from third-party providers, data partners, and institutions to ensure our products reflect the most comprehensive and relevant information available. CA's mission is to be the data partner of choice-by encouraging trusted, two-way relationships and delivering impactful outcomes through scalable access to high-value content.
What's the Role?
We're looking for a senior, strategic leader to establish and grow our Data Sourcing function globally. In this critical leadership role, you will build a team of third-party content relationship managers who are passionate about sourcing, evaluating, and securing access to new and differentiated data sets, such as Private Markets, Indices, Credit Ratings, ESG, Alternative Data and Industry Content, that are of utmost importance to the future of our business. You will drive the operating model, governance frameworks, and end-to-end processes required to operationalize and scale an outstanding data scouting capability.
You'll bring a deep understanding of the third-party data landscape, emerging content trends, and commercial models. You're also an expert relationship builder and dealmaker, comfortable negotiating sophisticated agreements, and a builder with a passion for developing new teams from the ground up.
We'll trust you to:
- Build and lead a global Data Sourcing team responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing high-value third-party content at scale
- Design and implement scalable operating models, frameworks, and internal processes that govern the data acquisition lifecycle-from sourcing and vetting through onboarding and commercial negotiation
- Develop strong, reciprocal relationships with internal partners to proactively deliver new datasets that meet their evolving business needs and strategic goals
- Lead commercial negotiations to secure favorable terms that enable scalable data access across Bloomberg's platforms
- Act as a trusted partner with senior leaders across Bloomberg-including Core Sales, Product, Engineering, and other Data functions-to ensure alignment, integration, and impact
- Stay on top of market and content trends to guide the team's scouting strategy and ensure Bloomberg continues to lead in data-driven innovation
You'll need to have:
- 8+ years of leadership experience in data acquisition, content licensing, or a similar role, including experience building and leading high-performing teams
- Deep expertise in the third-party market data ecosystem, including key vendors, content categories, and commercial/licensing models
- A proven track record of defining and implementing strategy in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
- Demonstrated experience in developing scalable operational capabilities across global teams
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and alignment across internal business units
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels including senior management
We'd love to see:
- Experience building new functions or teams, particularly in a data-driven or technology-led business
- Knowledge of contract structures, licensing frameworks, and regulatory implications for market data usage
- Passion for developing talent and coaching teams to build high-impact, strategic partnerships with external data providers
