A leading UK housebuilder is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator with an understanding of land appraisals to join our team in Maidstone. This is a key role within our growth strategy, combining traditional estimating responsibilities with the evaluation of land acquisition opportunities for residential development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects from initial feasibility through to completion.
- Conduct detailed land appraisals and financial modelling to assess the viability of potential development sites.
- Work closely with the land acquisition team, providing robust financial assessments to support strategic decisions.
- Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering reports to develop detailed cost plans and budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, contracts, and procurement strategies.
- Monitor project costs, identify potential risks, and propose solutions to maintain profitability.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, architects, and quantity surveyors, to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
- Stay informed on market conditions, material costs, and industry trends to ensure competitive and realistic pricing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating and appraisal processes.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator, with a strong focus on land appraisals in the residential construction sector.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (essential).
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach.
- Proficiency in estimating software, financial modelling tools, and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
- Sound knowledge of UK construction practices, building regulations, and the land acquisition process.
