Job Description
Insurance Surveyor
Hertfordshire
Permanent
£40,000 – £50,000 plus car / allowance
We are looking for an experienced Surveyor / Estimator with experience dealing with insurance claims. You will be joining a strong and established team at a successful and well-established contractor; dealing with insurance claim (property) reinstatement works.
You will need to be located in or around the Harrow, Hemel Hempstead or Watford area and prepared to travel as required (London/South East only). Experience in surveying & scoping property refurbishments / reinstatement projects is essential. Experience pricing for tenders would also be ideal (but not essential).
If you are keen to develop this into a Contracts Manager role over time this will be welcomed.
If you are looking for a Desktop Surveyor / Scoping role this will also be considered (package will be amended to reflect this).
Job role and responsibilities
This Surveyor / Estimator role will involve:
- Attending properties where damage has been caused by and insured peril (fire, flood, escape of water, subsidence)
- Carrying out a site survey to assess the damage and repairs required
- Putting a scope of works together, pricing using insurance company schedule of rates
- Using scoping tools/client portals such as Symbilty/CoreLogic, Xactware, Metrix etc.
- Validating variation requests as necessary
- If you have experience pricing tenders for larger works this will be highly advantageous
You will be working with a supportive team including Contracts Manager’s, Engineers, admin support staff, trades and a network of contractors.
NOTE: if you are looking for desktop role – the scoping will be carried out using reports/photos and measurements from the surveyor who carries out the survey.
Requirements
- Experience of working within the building / construction industry and solid experience as a Surveyor / Estimator
- Experience working for a loss adjuster, insurance company or specialist contractor.
- Knowledge of the home insurance claims process, perils and cover
- A building/technical related qualification or certificate would be advantageous (not essential with the right background)
- You will also need to be IT literate and ideally have some experience of client portals/systems such as; Symbility, Xactware, Blueprint. Metrix
Package
In addition to the salary (negotiable around £40-50k depending upon experience you will get a car allowance, a target related bonus and opportunities for progression.
