HPCi Media is a leading B2B publisher serving the health, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and nutrition industries. We are currently seeking a Science Reporter to join our editorial team, working across two of our flagship titles: Nutraceutical Business Review and Manufacturing Chemist.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and inquisitive journalist to cover the dynamic worlds of nutraceuticals and pharmaceutical manufacturing. You’ll be responsible for turning around daily news items, processing editor-selected press releases, identifying exclusives, interviewing industry figures, and maintaining an active presence on social media. You will play a key role in supporting the editor and helping shape editorial output across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit and write news stories with speed and accuracy
- Post and manage content across social media channels
- Monitor and process a high volume of press releases
- Attend relevant industry events and conferences, when required
- Collaborate closely with the editor and wider editorial team
- Publish Science group articles on their respective website as soon as they are written (to digital house style and standards)
- Optimise articles when uploading online for SEO, for example, via keywords and titles
- Use Social Media to broadcast the publication of new articles regularly
- Add all contacts and companies to the SMart system
- Pitch and pursue original stories, interviews and exclusives (when established)
About You
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Strong news sense and the ability to identify what makes a story
- Familiarity with SEO, digital publishing platforms and social media
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and deal with input from multiple sources
- A commitment to excellence, flexibility and a can-do approach
- An eye for detail and the ability to see the bigger picture
- A year or two\’s experience in a news room environment
- A porfolio of published news and content
- A strong interest in science, health and/or B2B communication
- A science or health-related background (academic or professional) is a plus
