Due to continued successful growth, we have an excellent permanent opportunity to join our Fortem team at Orbit Housing as an FRA Carpenter. The FRA Carpenter will be responsible for the installation of fire doors within social housing properties, following fire safety regulations. You will cover a patch across Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, and surrounding areas (travel is essential). Core hours are Mon-Fri 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with a company van and fuel card provided.
We are looking for a competent generalist Carpenter with practical experience and an understanding of fire safety regulations. The successful candidate will also be trained in-house in fire stopping techniques to work in accordance with current fire regulations. As an FRA Carpenter, you will ensure all work is completed to a high standard, take ownership of your tasks, aim for \’first-time fix\’ on all jobs, operate within health and safety guidelines, and remain within budget and time parameters, while being courteous and professional around tenants.
The Customer
Fortem’s contract with Orbit Housing covers over 17,000 properties across Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. We have multiple workstreams, including repairs & maintenance, voids, capital works, and re-roofing. Duties and Responsibilities
- Installation of fire doors within social housing properties, adhering to fire safety regulations.
- Completing carpentry tasks as per specifications, working efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Advising supervisors when other trades are required.
- Collaborating with other operatives to complete projects.
- Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems and electronic devices.
- Providing excellent customer service to client representatives.
- Arranging purchase of materials to deliver work efficiently.
- Complying with safeguarding policies and health & safety standards at all times.
- Operating within company policies, including occupational road risk policies.
- Using a PDA smartphone to update progress and completion of work daily.
What You Will Need
- NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in Carpentry, or qualified by experience.
- Fire door installation experience with an understanding of fire regulations (specific FRA training will be provided).
- Full UK driving license (max 5 points).
- No driving bans in the past 5 years.
- Ability to pass a basic DBS check.
- Desirable: Social housing experience, certifications such as FIRAS, BM TRADA Q-Mark, or equivalent.
