OrthoNC is seeking an experienced OR Circulating Nurse to support our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) team. This role supports patient care activities throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and high-quality outcomes for patients and staff.
Essential Functions
- Assess patient and family understanding of surgical procedures and provide perioperative education.
- Perform preoperative patient assessments, review surgeon preference cards, and prepare equipment/supplies.
- Administer medications safely and accurately.
- Position patients appropriately using aids to ensure safety, comfort, and prevention of complications.
- Perform surgical prep per protocol and surgeon preference.
- Handle and document specimens per policy.
- Conduct sponge, sharps, and instrument counts; initiate corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain aseptic technique and infection control standards, taking corrective action when breaks occur.
- Ensure operating suites are clean, stocked, and properly maintained.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and report issues with surgical instruments and equipment.
- Anticipate surgeon needs and prepare equipment and supplies accordingly.
- Document patient care and perioperative processes accurately.
- Participate in quality initiatives and process improvement efforts.
- Mentor and precept new staff members, sharing knowledge and supporting team development.

Required Education and Experience
- Current North Carolina RN License
- BLS certification
- Minimum of 2+ years of operating room nursing experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- CNOR certification
- Experience in scrubbing and circulating orthopaedic procedures
