Job Description

Speech and Language Support Assistant

Location: Kingston Upon Thames

Pay: £90–£115 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Settings: Primary and Secondary Schools

Full-time and part-time roles available | September starts

Are you passionate about helping children communicate, thrive and succeed? We're working closely with a number of welcoming and well-resourced schools across Kingston Upon Thames who are on the lookout for caring, skilled and enthusiastic Speech and Language Support Assistants to join their teams.

As a vital member of the support staff, you’ll work alongside teachers and therapists to provide targeted speech and language interventions to pupils who need it most—helping them to overcome barriers, develop their confidence, and engage more fully in school life.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), both 1:1 and in small groups
  • Helping to implement personalised support plans created by Speech and Language Therapists
  • Assisting in the delivery of engaging learning activities across the curriculum
  • Promoting social interaction, emotional development and self-esteem
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress to teaching staff and therapists

We're looking for:

Previous experience supporting children with SLCN or additional learning needs

A calm, patient and empathetic approach

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)

Whether you're an experienced practitioner or a graduate with a keen interest in speech and language, we’d love to hear from you! We encourage applicants who have worked in SEND/SLCN provision, language therapy or teaching to SEND students, and those with qualifications in BSL, Speech Therapy, and Teaching & Learning.
