York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for an approachable and flexible Facilities Operative to join our team in Scarborough. Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.

The working pattern for this role is via a rolling rota that covers the hours that the department is operational – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Main duties of the job

Are you looking for a post based within our York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) Team? Are you a strong team player, kind, friendly and motivated? Then we may have the role for you!

YTHFM are looking for an approachable and flexible Facilities Operative to join our team in Scarborough. Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.

Duties include:

  • Linen Room – distributing and assisting with deliveries of linen
  • Portering – helping with patient flow and movement of equipment around the hospital
  • Domestic Duties – cleaning wards/departments and serving tea/coffee/food to patients
  • Environment – removing and segregating waste
  • Catering – working in the kitchen alongside the Catering team

Person specification

Experience & knowledge

  • Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Able to use small and large pieces of equipment such as Regeneration oven/dishwashers/Floor machinery
  • Experience of working in cleaning industry
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Good basic education which includes reading and writing plus basic numeric skills
  • Customer service training (or to be completed within 6 months of employment start date)
  • BICSc Qualification/NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning/Catering or equivalent

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP (YTHFM LLP) provides a full range of estates and facilities services to York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, together with project management for capital investments. YTHFM LLP is a partnership between York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management Limited.

New starters will be employed by YTHFM and not directly by the NHS, however, they will enjoy the same terms and conditions as NHS staff covered by Agenda for Change. YTHFM employees have access to the NHS pension scheme.

Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role.
