Overview
*** Composite Test Lab Technician ***
We are currently seeking two technicians to support a forthcoming project due to commence on August 1, 2025, on-site at a customer facility in Prestwick, Scotland. The roles sit within the Calibration, Labs & NDT Department and will support the physical testing of RTM A320 Spoiler components.
The work involves the preparation and testing of composite samples removed from the production line as part of a periodic destructive testing programme. All testing is carried out in accordance with defined procedures, under the guidance of the customer’s qualified Materials Engineers. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate a range of laboratory equipment for destructive testing of composite spoiler structures

Prepare and cut test samples using equipment such as Compcut/CNC saws (no programming required)

Conduct physical testing procedures including DMA (Dynamic Mechanical Analysis) and ILSS (Interlaminar Shear Strength)

Prepare microscopy samples, including potting and polishing

Capture microscope images and conduct basic fibre volume measurements

Accurately record data and results using Microsoft Office tools (primarily Excel)

Ensure all tasks are performed in line with established lab safety and quality standards
Background, Skills and Experience:

Previous experience in a lab or production environment desirable, but not essential

Understanding of composite materials or manufacturing processes an advantage

Comfortable working with machinery and test equipment (training will be provided)

A methodical and hands-on approach to work

Strong attention to detail and commitment to following procedures

Self-motivated with a professional and reliable attitude

Competent IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office applications

Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues
