The Role:
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of each project, including controlling costs, managing site budgets, and ensuring that financial targets are met. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing draft and site start budgets for each allocated site.
- Preparing bi-monthly valuations and completing ‘cost to complete’ exercises for each site under your responsibility.
- Processing works contractor payments and final accounts, ensuring proper sign-off by contractors.
- Issuing contract works orders, ensuring they are properly authorized with all required documentation, in line with Group Commercial Policy.
- Performing on-site measurements and assessing payments to contractors.
- Attending and contributing to meetings such as pre-order meetings, bi-monthly valuation reviews, and project meetings with senior management, the construction team, external contractors, and consultants.
- Overseeing all contract works orders on site and liaising with contractors as needed.
- Managing the Professional Fees Budget.
- Flexible approach to daily tasks and working hours.
- Occasional travel to development sites as required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a residential housebuilder.
- Expertise in low-rise housing or RC frame construction is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with COINS (payment system) is advantageous, but not essential.
- Knowledge of cost control systems and valuation reporting.
- HND/HNC in Building Studies.
- GCSE Grade C/4+ or equivalent in English and Maths.
- CSCS card or equivalent.
- Current full driving license.
- Strong communication, listening, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Methodical, conscientious, organized, and committed to delivering high standards.
- Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
