We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading financial services clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Network Engineer with strong Corvil experience to join their team for a six-month contract.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer with a proven record of delivering and maintaining a stable network environment. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly, have an excellent understanding of a trading infrastructure and be comfortable dealing directly with developers and application support to determine and understand how their applications interact with the infrastructure to help ensure successful implementation and migration to the new architecture.
Following years of ad-hoc growth we've received significant investment towards our latency sensitive electronic trading network allowing us to embark on a project to refresh the hardware and using the opportunity to re-design the architecture to be more efficient and scalable. The project is working toward ambitious timescales and will require significant focus.
You will be part of a small team that is agile and multi-skilled and will ensure the Trading networks operate in a stable manner, using your expertise to optimize the functionality, performance and security, making improvements when needed.

  1. Implement network-as-code for the new infrastructure deployment and upskill the rest of the team on automation.
  2. Building a professional relationship and working with the global support to ensure efficient communication between corporate and trading networks.
  3. Producing HLD and LLD documentation with continuous review to ensure accuracy.
  4. Provide a handover into Operations, local and offshore, of new implementations with regular KS sessions to upskill and address gaps
  5. Act as a senior escalation point for team members and internal teams for incidents, requests and changes.
  6. Working closely with strategic technology partners to determine software release planning, budget submissions and provide input for business case preparation.
  7. Working with market vendors to agree connectivity details to a standard, oversee implementation, testing etc.
  8. Ensuring proper monitoring and capacity of the global network.
  9. Planning and overseeing work in remote sites (communicating with and managing remote hands).
  10. Work with autonomy and independence but within the framework of a global support and engineering structure
  11. Close technology watch to bring innovation to markets connectivity and trading application platforms.

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

  1. CCIE qualification preferred (candidates without CCIE who can demonstrate equivalent expertise will be considered)
  2. Corvil experience is essential
  3. Experience with Ansible and network automation
  4. Experience of working in highly available latency sensitive network environment utilizing multiple network (switching & routing) and security (Firewall, Web Gateway & LTM) technologies
  5. Experience in capturing requirements from the business and working with multiple technical teams to identify solutions that balance business, security, availability and resiliency requirements.
  6. Experience with market brokers & direct market connectivity.
  7. Implementing of designs into the production environment under Change Control.
  8. A sound knowledge of Arista architectures and operating systems with hands on design and configuration experience.
  9. Confident knowledge and exposure of core routing protocols, OSPF and BGP, and IP transmission modes, Unicast and Mulitcast.
  10. Low level log & packet analysis experience is a must.
