Overview

Two new posts to support the development of our homeless services within Middlesbrough. The post holder will work within the ACT (Accessing Change Together) Service, which brings together council staff and partner organisations to provide a range of support and interventions for service users with needs in relation to homelessness and housing related support, domestic abuse and substance misuse. ACT is an integrated service with a shared case load management system to enable staff and partner organisations to work together and share information to improve outcomes for service users. The service also collaborates with other Council services including Adult and Children’s Social Care to develop consistent pathways and effective processes.

Responsibilities

  • Take lead responsibility for those placed in interim accommodation, ensuring that their length of stay is as short as possible and that cases are proactively case managed. This includes regular face to face and telephone contact with service users and revision of Personal Housing Plans.
  • Work closely with Community Interventions (TA Move on Officer) and the Brokerage Officer to deliver coordinated support.
  • Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, and make all necessary statutory decisions throughout the application process.
  • Collaborate with other Council services and partner organisations to develop consistent pathways and effective processes.

  • Experience of working within a statutory homeless setting and ability to work effectively with a range of services.
  • Ability to carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a resilient and creative approach to supporting service users.
  • Commitment to the Council\’s values and a proactive approach to achieving best outcomes for residents.
