The Placement Co-ordinator Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and self-motivated person to join our Business Development team/Commercial team as a Placement Coordinator.

We are looking for a proven and experienced person to drive our Employment and Work Placement Strategy forward for our 16–19-year-old provision. You will come with a background in sales, recruitment or marketing and used to working to clear targets and KPIS.

Liaising with employers to coordinate work experience and placements for our full-time study program students. You will be responsible for the whole process from sourcing high quality and appropriate placements, preparing students to go out on work placements, supporting employers to deliver a great experience and ensuring all students successfully complete their required placement hours.  To work closely with the curriculum team to ensure a smooth process for all students, to monitor and mentor each student on placement to ensure issues are dealt with efficiently.

Responsibilities as our Placement Co-ordinator will include:

  • Engage with employers and other organisations to build relationships in order to explore opportunities for student industry placements and liaise on suitable candidates.
  • Work with Academic Tutors and other curriculum staff to visit student groups to prepare them for industry placement.
  • Guide and support student learning/training activities in relation to placement activity.
  • Ensure all industry placements have been set up and authorised in accordance with the College’s Health & Safety industry placement procedure and agreed with our Health & Safety Officer.
  • Respond and deal with placements regarding queries, problems and complaints.
  • Under appropriate direction, supervise, guide and support student learning activities on
  • relevant programs.
  • Liaison with the Director of Business to ensure monitoring and recording on industry placement/Work Experience is in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks and cross college Careers Strategy
  • Respond to/support student concerns, problems, specific support needs (liaising with Student Support as and when necessary).
  • Review students’ progress at regular intervals, give written feedback and make judgements indicating whether candidates have met requirements.
  • Monitor and record student industry placements /work related progress and attendance using college systems such as ProMonitor, Navigate and central trackers.
  • Liaise with employers and parents/carers to facilitate successful completion of placement and keep them informed of their students’ progress on their placements.
  • Monitor and record employer contacts for industry placements using the college CRM system (ProEngage)
  • Participate in wider college events and activities when required
  • Participate in relevant marketing activities.

As our Placement Co-ordinator, you’llideally have:

  • Minimum GCSE level 2 in English and Math’s or equivalent
  • Demonstrate experience of building rapport and strong relationships with clients
  • Experience of working with students and an understanding of how to support them with their barriers
  • Skills in assessing the progress of students
  • Confidence and experience dealing with external customers such as employers
  • The ability to work cross organisation at multiple levels
  • Knowledge of the skills and personal qualities needed by students for the employment sector/organisations for which they are being prepared.
