Job Description

Interim Planning Policy Officer

Coalville area, Leicestershire

Full-time – 36.25 hours per week

Temporary contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Policy professional to support the delivery of a Regulation 19 Local Plan in the Coalville area.

This interim role offers the chance to be part of a key stage in the local plan-making process, contributing directly to shaping future development in the region. If you're a policy planner with strong technical knowledge and a proactive approach, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in finalising the Regulation 19 Local Plan
  • Respond to Regulation 18 consultation responses
  • Support the preparation and coordination of the evidence base
  • Draft plan content and supporting technical documents
  • Liaise with stakeholders, consultants, and partner organisations
  • Attend internal meetings and occasional evening events when planning matters are on the agenda
  • Use GIS, databases, and spreadsheets to analyse and present spatial and planning data

About You

  • Demonstrable experience in planning policy and local plan work
  • Understanding of the statutory planning process, particularly Regulation 18 and 19
  • Excellent written communication and policy drafting skills
  • Confident in stakeholder engagement and collaborative working
  • Proficient in the use of GIS and data analysis tools
  • Able to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
