Abbott's Diabetes Care business designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge blood glucose monitoring technology for use in both home and hospital settings, including our revolutionary Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System. At our Centre of Excellence in Witney, we design, develop and manufacture test strips and biosensors which are used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business and a long-term commitment to high volume manufacturing in our Witney Centre of Excellence, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Product Investigation Engineer to join our expanding highly skilled team. We are open to this role being on either 4 on 4 off Day Shift, or 4 on 4 off Night Shift. Reporting to the Complaints Investigation Team Manager you will conduct and support the complaint investigation process by troubleshooting and identifying root causes associated with medical device product returns using various electronics equipment and software applications. Through cross functional collaborations (R&D, Operations, Quality etc), trend monitoring, and robust investigative practices, you will recommend changes which ultimately support on improvements to product reliability and manufacturing yield by eliminating similar failure modes in the future. This will be achieved through various tasks, including: * Troubleshoot complaint returns to determine root causes (where possible) of failures using schematic diagrams and equipment such as soldering irons, drill presses, microscopes, oscilloscopes, software applications and other equipment * Ensure the accuracy, quality and timeliness of the processing and documentation of any activities carried out * Translate engineering investigation methodologies into procedures which can be executed by the Complaint Handling Group and qualify new procedures/ equipment as necessary * Monitoring product trends, linking this to customers observations and investigating to root cause. The ideal candidate will be apprentice trained in electronic/electrical engineering, or degree qualified in an electronic/electrical engineering field with proven industry-based application of knowledge. Experience of working in Quality Assurance within a regulated environment or industry is preferred, as is proven exposure of nano-technology trouble shooting and fault-finding environment. You will be comfortable working with cross function teams, but equally able to own and be accountable for individual tasks.
