Superior Healthcare is recruiting a compassionate, reliable Pastoral Carer in Brighton and surrounding areas to work with our client, a renowned international school.

Superior Healthcare was founded in 2006 by Stewart Thorp, his father Charles, and Sarah Richards, inspired by their personal experiences caring for Stewart’s brother and Charles’ son, Alex, who has an acquired brain injury.

From these experiences, Charles and Stewart recognized the need for specialized care services that bridge the gap between independent care providers and national organizations.

Our company provides specialized services for individuals with complex, long-term health needs, along with staffing solutions employing Healthcare Assistants, Support Workers, and Registered Nurses across Kent and Sussex.

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and proactive Pastoral Carer to join our dedicated pastoral team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with young people in a dynamic international setting, supporting their emotional wellbeing and enhancing their boarding experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day pastoral support for boarding and day students, ensuring their emotional and social wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with Houseparents to maintain a warm, safe, and structured residential environment.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, offering guidance, listening, and appropriate interventions.
  • Accompany students on school trips, outings, and cultural visits, ensuring safety and engagement.
  • Support wellbeing programmes, evening activities, and weekend events.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, and external professionals to support students\’ pastoral needs.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and contribute to the school\’s pastoral strategy.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people in educational, pastoral, or residential care settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm and empathetic approach.
  • A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to student welfare.
  • Cultural sensitivity and appreciation for working in a diverse, international environment.
  • Availability for day, night, and weekend shifts.
  • Blue light card (we will pay for it).
