Known for their excellent reputation and broad regional reach, the business is now seeking to recruit anAssistant Finance Manager. This is a newly created role designed to support the Finance Manager in overseeing the finance department and ensuring smooth daily operations.
With on-the-job training and a clear pathway to step into the Finance Manager role in the near to mid-term, this position offers excellent progression and variety. Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as senior finance lead in the absence of the Head of Finance
- Supporting and overseeing the Finance Officer’s day-to-day duties
- Preparing management accounts with insightful commentary and KPIs
- Producing forecasts and managing budgets
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations, including prepayments and accruals
- Managing accounts payable and receivable functions
- Running monthly supplier payment cycles
- Monitoring cashflow and income streams
- Preparing VAT returns and managing HMRC submissions
- Overseeing payroll preparation each month
- Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets
- Supporting the year-end process and liaising with external accountants
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar finance role
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
- A proactive mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
This role would suit an experienced Assistant Accountant ready for the next step, or a Management Accountant seeking a new challenge with a clear route to progression. Candidates who are available at short notice will be at a distinct advantage.
