Responsibilities:
- Specimen receipt, labelling, and preparation including dissection, embedding, microtomy.
- Perform staining procedures such as H&E, special stains, immunohistochemistry, and assist with frozen sections or OSNA.
- Participate in quality control, validation, equipment maintenance, and stock management.
- Supervise and train Band 5 scientists, trainees, and support staff.
- Engage in digital pathology, UKAS/ISO accreditation, audits, and implement new methodologies or equipment.
- Contribute to extended hours, weekend shifts, and a 24/7 rota as needed.
