We have an exciting role on offer within our Children\’s Services as a Social Worker – Children Looked After Team.

To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 15% supplement to social work salaries. This additional 15% will be reviewed at the end of March 2027.

About Us

We are seeking a full-time, experienced, motivated, and child-focused Social Worker to join our Children Looked After Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people in care.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Undertake statutory home visits within required timescales, maintaining high standards of recording and timekeeping.
Strong skills in direct work with children and understanding of the Child Looked After processes.
Prepare reports and attend Child Looked After reviews, strategy meetings, and stability meetings.
Lead and record Care Team meetings in a timely and accurate manner.
Complete a range of assessments including Child and Family Assessments, Viability Assessments, Special Guardianship Support Plans and Assessments, Discharge Statements for Court, Together or Apart Assessments, and Child Permanence Reports.
Develop and implement appropriate care plans to meet identified needs.
Support children in achieving permanence, understanding their history and care journey, maintaining family relationships, and exploring safe reunification options.
Maintain professional standards in line with policy and procedural guidelines, ensuring high-quality casework recording.
Provide feedback to the Team Manager regarding service provision and policy effectiveness during regular supervision. Requirements.

Applicants must have:

Passed their ASYE programme and have some experience in safeguarding, working with looked after children and supporting children through transitions.
Registration with Social Work England.
