Job Purpose:
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods from suppliers to customers. The role involves managing shipments, liaising with transport providers, handling customer inquiries, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Logistics Coordinator will play a key role in optimizing delivery schedules, monitoring performance, and supporting the growth of the business.
Job description:
• Shipment Coordination:
o Plan and coordinate the movement of goods from suppliers to customers, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
o Schedule and manage domestic and international shipments, including road, air, and sea freight.
o Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs declarations.
o Ensure that shipments are compliant with import/export regulations, and manage any customs clearance requirements.
• Transport & Carrier Management:
o Liaise with transport providers, courier companies, and freight forwarders to negotiate rates, book shipments, and track deliveries.
o Monitor carrier performance and resolve any delays, issues, or discrepancies that arise during transit.
o Optimize transportation routes and methods to minimize costs and improve delivery times.
o Maintain positive relationships with external transport partners to ensure a high level of service.
• Customer Service & Communication:
o Act as the primary point of contact for customers, responding to inquiries about shipments, deliveries, and logistics-related issues.
o Provide customers with shipment status updates and delivery schedules, ensuring clear and timely communication.
o Address any customer complaints or issues related to deliveries, providing solutions to meet customer expectations.
o Work closely with internal teams, including sales and customer service, to ensure seamless communication and coordination of logistics activities.
• Order Processing & Documentation:
o Process customer orders accurately, entering details into the company’s logistics system and ensuring all relevant information is captured.
o Prepare and maintain detailed records of all shipments, deliveries, and returns, ensuring that documentation is complete and accurate.
o Manage and track all paperwork related to shipments, including invoices, receipts, and returns, ensuring compliance with company policies.
o Coordinate the return of goods and manage reverse logistics as needed, ensuring timely and cost-efficient processes.
• Compliance & Regulations:
o Ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements, including customs regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
o Stay up to date with changes in logistics laws and regulations, particularly related to import/export, customs duties, and international shipping.
o Ensure the proper handling and documentation of any hazardous materials, adhering to relevant health and safety guidelines.
• Cost Management:
o Work with suppliers and transport providers to negotiate competitive rates and manage costs effectively.
o Monitor any additional charges or fees, such as customs duties or surcharges, and ensure that they are accounted for in the overall budget.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience:
o 4+ years of experience in logistics coordination, supply chain management, or a related field, preferably in a small or medium-sized business.
