We are delighted to be recruiting for this growing business based in Ross-on-Wye in helping them find a talented and experienced Finance Manager.
Reporting into a passionate and driven Managing Director you will have broad finance experience and enjoy working in a busy and successful team.
The role would suit someone who is either an up and coming part qualified accountant who thrives in a fast paced environment, an AAT accountant or it might suit someone who has worked in accountancy for a while and who is qualified by experience – you must have lots of energy and enthusiasm for this role! It is crucial to have strong technical ability to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the company by providing accurate and timely financial information.
This role allows autonomy and ownership when it comes to finances and you will be joining a team who love their work and a healthy and positive business culture.
The job
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Collaborate closely with external accountant to complete year end statutory accounts with the view of being full responsibly in year two
- Manage payroll of c30 people, issue HR contracts, benefits, and ensure employment law compliance.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations, manage cash flow, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Create projections through a programme like Excel to monitor performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee invoicing, payments, services in/out and ensure accuracy and precise recordings.
- Submit timely VAT returns and produce regular KPI reports to guide business performance.
- Support bid and tender processes through financial analysis and proposal preparation
- Work closely with non-finance colleagues and ensure good business partnering practices
The person specification
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a good technical knowledge of accounts to trail balance and management accounts
- Strong grasp of accounting principles, VAT, and payroll – and the willingness to grow knowledge
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
- Analytical with excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Effective communicator and team collaborator
- Timely, accurate reporting and financial records
- Insightful, data-driven recommendations
- Strong internal controls and audit readiness
