Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant or in a healthcare/laboratory environment
- Knowledge of basic laboratory practices and infection control
- Familiarity with LIMS and Experience of using computer systems
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and nights, if required
- Right to work in the UK
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, sort, label, and prepare biological samples in accordance with lab protocols
- Print and manage barcode labels; prepare and dispatch specimen containers to wards and GP surgeries
- Support Biomedical Scientists with tasks contributing to authorised results
- Monitor stock levels, maintain inventory, and assist with the receipt and storage of consumables
- Perform cleaning, equipment decontamination, and proper sample storage post-analysis
- Follow health & safety guidelines, waste disposal procedures, and infection control protocols
