We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to join our team as a Health & Safety Officer. Working at our facility in A&P Falmouth, you will play a critical role in our commitment to excellence and safety.

A&P Falmouth is one of the largest ship-repair facilities in the UK, providing a complete range of marine repair services thanks to our on-site engineering, electrical, paint and fabrication workshops.

Our number one priority is to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of our staff, customers and sub-contractors. Our Work Safe, Home Safe (WSHS) initiative defines the core values which form the basis of the safety culture here.

Joining Our Dedicated Health & Safety Team, Youll

  • Undertake site inspections across our facility, ensuring safety onboard and off ships within the docks, our workshops, offices and other areas of the site.
  • Maintain and update our health and safety policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Carry out or assist others in the investigation, reporting and recommending of action on accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances with a view to driving positive changes and improvements.
  • Carry out risk assessments and review safe systems of work.
  • Provide advice on health, safety, environmental and quality matters to colleagues, customers and contractors across the business.
  • Deliver health & safety training such as toolbox talks and health and safety briefings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Company policies.

What We Are Looking For

  • NEBOSH general certificate / NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) function in an industrial / engineering environment with good knowledge of best practice within HSEQ.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Willingness to work various shift patterns including at night and during the weekend and to be on-call during unsociable hours and visit the facility during these times as required.
