This role is pivotal to the organisation’s IT strategy, combining leadership of hosting, cloud services and networking to ensure seamless global operations while driving the modernisation of infrastructure capabilities to meet dynamic business demands.
The position offers the opportunity to lead a highly skilled, integrated infrastructure platforms team during a critical period of transformation and growth. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the Infrastructure Platform Engineering team and key managed service providers to design and deliver robust, scalable, and efficient infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of a global business.
- Cloud and Infrastructure Modernisation: Drive strategic cloud transformation and infrastructure modernisation initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Operational Resilience: Oversee the application of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to enhance the availability, performance, and reliability of critical infrastructure services.
- Automation and Innovation: Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies and cloud-native technologies, such as serverless computing, containers, and AI-driven operations, to deliver automated, efficient, and future-ready solutions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, managing vendors to ensure service excellence and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Hybrid Environment Optimisation: Lead the optimisation of hosting environments, including cloud landing zones, on-premise data centres, and colocation facilities, focusing on performance, resilience, and operational agility.
- Governance and Security: Maintain robust disaster recovery and security protocols in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Key Requirements
- Extensive experience in leadership roles managing hybrid environments, including cloud (Azure) and on-premise infrastructure, with specific expertise in multi-region data centres.
- Deep expertise in infrastructure platform engineering, cloud management, and operational excellence in data centre environments, particularly VMware.
- Demonstrated proficiency in automation tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices across both on-premise and cloud infrastructure, including Terraform, Github and Azure DevOps.
- Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, security principles, and technologies such as Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Scripting languages (eg, PowerShell, Python).
- Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud transformation initiatives within highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies and delivering infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams to achieve organisational objectives.
