SALARY: 27933 per annum

ROLE TYPE: Onsite

HOURS: 35 per week

Responsibilities

  • As a Train Cleaner Team Leader youll play a vital role in supporting and motivating your team to deliver the highest cleaning standards, creating a welcoming environment for everyone who travels with us.
  • Lead a team to maintain Northerns high cleaning standards whilst confidently interacting with colleagues from all backgrounds.
  • Ensure the successful running of the shift from start to shift requirements and organise workloads.
  • Provide continuous support, reinforce high standards to team members and newcomers whilst working alongside our cleaning teams effectively to complete tasks together.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal communication and a customer-focused approach by delivering spotless trains that contribute to a positive passenger experience.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety protocols and procedures at all times.
  • Think on your feet, address questions, and resolve issues quickly and safely, including significant cleaning issues that could impact train services (e.g., spills of blood or vomit).
  • Be adaptable and resilient, comfortable working both outdoors and onboard trains in varying weather conditions.
  • Be flexible with schedules, including weekends and bank holidays, to ensure trains remain clean and safe for passengers year-round.

Essential requirements

  • All applicants must hold a full UK driving licence for at least 2 years and be over 21 years old as this involves driving a small van as part of duties.
  • Role is safety critical and subject to Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria or your application will be automatically rejected:
  • Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
  • Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
  • Pass the safety-critical medical assessment including drugs and alcohol screening.
  • Not have defective colour vision.
