Job Title: Estimator

Location: Somerset

Initial Contract End Date: 12m contract starting ASAP

Role Overview

Spencer Ogden are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at major nuclear new build. The successful candidate will support cost forecasting and estimating activities across major infrastructure projects, maintaining accurate data and providing critical insights to support project delivery through to the end of 2025.

Principal Accountabilities

Maintain accurate estimating and change forecasts aligned with the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and/or Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).

Ensure all estimating data is up-to-date within project control systems such as Primavera P6, ARM, or similar.

Prepare and coordinate estimating reports according to a defined reporting cycle, including commentary on key drivers and performance trends.

Support the Trend & Change process at the project level, performing risk/opportunity analysis and generating performance indicators.

Deliver clear and concise insights using both commercial and technical data to support informed decision-making.

Provide analytical support to Senior and Lead Estimators through interpretation of technical, financial, and performance data.

Foster collaboration across teams in line with HPC project values: Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity, and Clarity—promoting a culture of Trust, Transparency, and Teamwork.

Apply core project control principles, ensuring alignment with wider management and governance processes.

Help promote a culture of good governance, risk awareness, and compliance; support education and improvements in project control reporting.

Ensure protection and proper handling of all sensitive project documents, particularly Sensitive Nuclear Information, in line with EDF policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Previous experience working on large-scale UK projects, ideally within MEH (Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC) or Oil & Gas sectors.

Solid understanding of project controls methodologies and techniques.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing data and outputs.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong organisational and time management capabilities.

Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.

Qualifications

Minimum HND or equivalent qualification in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience in Estimating and Change, including knowledge of associated tools and methodologies to drive project insights and performance evaluation

Day Rate

This is paying £350 – £370 per day via umbrella company as its deemed inside IR35.
