Job Title: Head of Projects
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions, leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management, are recruiting a Head of Projects to join the team located in Darlington or London .
Purpose Of The Job
Own and deliver the business unit project plan, d evelo ping and l ead ing their teams in the safe delivery of projects ensuring sufficient training and development of talent.
Have overall responsibility for generating a sales pipeline to deliver revenue to the BU and projects are secured and delivered on time and within the financial requirements and margins as specified by the business . Building external relationships with clients and supply partners to deliver major projects
Ensure that all projects adhere and are managed to commercial agreements / contracts compliant with statutory regulations, are QHSE compliant and meet technical industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
This role supports a large, national retail maintenance account , with a focus on delivering safe, compliant, and commercially sound projects. Working closely with the Account FM Team , the position is key to identifying , developing, and delivering a pipeline of strategic and operational project opportunities across the retail estate. Focus areas include Capex works, Asset Replacement (FMR), Compliance upgrades, ESG initiatives, Innovation, and Asset Verification .
- Ensure the safe and compliant delivery of all projects, effectively managing risk and technical assurance.
- Develop a close working relationship with the Account FM Team to proactively generate project opportunities that support operational delivery and long-term asset performance.
- Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing projects team to meet current delivery requirements and future growth plans.
- Lead the identification, scoping, and specification of project opportunities, supporting the strategic aims of the client and account.
- Deliver all projects to scope, budget, and timescales in line with CBRE and client expectations, and according to local playbooks and governance.
- Identify and reduce all forms of project risk, including technical, statutory, commercial, and H&S.
- Maximise profitability through effective procurement, cost management, and resource planning.
- Develop a robust, forward-looking pipeline of work to support both asset and compliance strategies.
- Prepare and manage all tenders, bids, and proposals, and support the conversion of these into secured opportunities.
- Drive project growth through innovation , technology , and cross-functional collaboration.
- Support the Account Team with delivery of asset lifecycle works, environmental upgrades, and retail space enhancements.
- Produce high-quality case studies and support relationship management through site tours and solution presentations.
- Ensure compliance with all CBRE governance, policy, and safety procedures , including CDM regulations.
- Represent Projects in senior forums and contribute to overall account strategy and delivery performance .
- Manage underperformance and people issues in line with HR policies and promote a positive team culture.
- Maintain visibility of the project forecast and ensure performance is aligned to the financial plan.
- Chair monthly and ad hoc project reviews, ensuring clear focus on safety, compliance, performance, and client satisfaction .

- Responsible for the generation and conversion of project opportunities across a national retail estate.
- Full P&L accountability for the projects portfolio on the account.
- Line management responsibility for project delivery personnel.
- Ensure full compliance with CBRE management systems , project governance, and safety frameworks.
- Promote and embed CBRE’s core values , ensuring a consistent, high-quality approach to project delivery.

Person Specification
Education
- Recognised technical qualification in C onstruction, Mechanical or Electrical or similar (desirable)
- Degree level qualification in Project Management (desirable)
Training
- Degree level qualification within project management, construction management or equivalent (desirable)
- Business standard of written and verbal literacy and numeracy
- APM certified (desirable)
- Prince 2 certified (desir able)
- CDM regulations
- SMSTS certified (desirable)
- Nebosh certified (desirable)
- CSCS card holder (desirable)

Experience
- Proven track record safely delivering exceptional projects in either an M&E , FM, construction, or critical environment s.
- Experience of developing new project opportunities
- Proven experience of running a P&L
- Demonstrable evidence of having managed a team
- Experience of creating, presenting and managing on bids, tenders and proposals.
