Intermediate GCP Cloud Engineer with Terraform and Kubernetes experience to work on a modern application platform engineering team with one of our major banking clients.

Location: Toronto – Remote

Contract Duration: 6 Months (with a good chance of extension)

Our large banking client is modernizing development practices and tools, focusing on cloud transformation and platform technologies to support development and operations. The goal is to streamline processes and enable development teams to focus on building business logic. We are assembling a team of influential industry leaders to drive this transformation.

The Senior Cloud Engineer will be part of the Modern App Platform Engineering team, responsible for creating platform components and services for enterprise-wide use.

Key Accountabilities:

• Manage and maintain cloud platforms, services, and components to enable enterprise-wide cloud functionality.
• Lead technical design and ownership of enterprise cloud products or complex parts of larger products, including software and processes.
• Design, implement, and refactor code.
• Participate in design discussions on scalability and best practices.
• Ensure high availability, integrity, and reliability of software and applications.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects on solution design, scoping, and estimation.
• Participate in planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
• Build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure.
• Engage in peer review and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years relevant experience
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized applications, and Terraform
• Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and platform development
• Proven experience with Google GCP and Microsoft Azure
• Understanding of SDLC and related technologies
• Expertise in modern technology stacks, platform building, or legacy systems
• Technical leadership experience in small teams
• Strong communication skills, especially technical communication
• Experience delivering enterprise systems across multiple teams
• Knowledge of software design patterns, infrastructure, DevOps, security
• Understanding of scalable enterprise software design
• Experience with relational databases and CI/CD processes
• Attention to detail and quality standards
• Desire to learn and grow
• Passion for high performance and quality craftsmanship
• Problem-solving skills
• Experience in Canadian financial institutions is a plus

Education/Experience:

Bachelor\’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
