Senior Structural Engineer – (Up to £60,000) Leeds | Hybrid Working Available A dynamic and growing engineering consultancy based in Leeds is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team. This firm provides design excellence across structural, civil and mechanical engineering disciplines and has a strong reputation for delivering safe and practical solutions to complex construction and demolition projects. They specialise in structural design and temporary works, offering integrated expertise in both permanent and temporary works across industries including rail, highways, power and defence. About the Role As Senior Structural Engineer you will take responsibility for leading structural design projects from concept to completion. You’ll work within the structural consulting team on temporary works design and permanent works (new structures, refurbishments) where required, driving technical excellence and buildability. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate closely with other disciplines and contractors to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions. Key responsibilities include: Lead and deliver structural engineering design for temporary works and permanent works, across materials and typologies Provide or oversee temporary works / demolition design where required (as the business has specific expertise here) Liaise and coordinate with architects, civil and mechanical engineers, contractors and clients Prepare and review detailed calculations, drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with UK codes and regulatory requirements Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting excellence, practical thinking and hands-on problem solving Participate in project management, procurement and stakeholder engagement as required About You Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or close to achieving this milestone Significant experience in structural engineering design in consultancy (ideally including both temporary works and permanent works. Strong technical background in structural analysis and design (reinforced concrete, steel, composite materials) Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and develop more junior staff Proactive, solution-oriented, comfortable balancing technical excellence with practical buildability considerations (the company emphasises “design you can build on”).
