Job Title: Red Hat Linux Engineer (24×7 Onsite Support)
Location: Erskine
Job Type: Full-Time, Shift-Based (24×7)
Clearance – UK Sole national eligible for SC and DV
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Red Hat Linux Engineer to join our team. This role involves providing round-the-clock onsite support to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. Applicants must be UK sole nationals due to the nature of the work and security requirements. Candidates must also demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Linux systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime
- Perform system installations, configurations, and upgrades, adhering to best practices
- Respond promptly to incidents, resolving issues within defined SLAs
- Implement and manage system security measures, including patch management and vulnerability assessments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure projects and deployments
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
- Participate in a rotating shift schedule of 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off to provide 24×7 support, including weekends and holidays
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Linux Engineer, with expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Red Hat certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE) are highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of Linux system administration, networking, and security
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Must be a UK sole national
- Must be willing to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges
Preferred Skills
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of ITIL processes and incident management
