This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a wide range of highway projects with an opportunity to guide a scheme from inception to completion. We have a wide range of capital projects that we are working on or will be starting to work on in the very near future. These projects are part of our capital programme or follow success in attracting external funding opportunities or directly support business and housing regeneration in Lancashire.
Some of the schemes we are currently working on or have recently delivered include:
- Burnley Pendle Hyndburn Growth Corridor programme which concentrated on highway and junction improvements to promote economic regeneration in East Lancashire,

- We are working in partnership with District councils and stakeholders on public realm improvements within their towns,
- Creation of rural cycle routes in challenging environments,

Your team will liaise with other internal engineering teams in order to fully undertake detail design and prepare drawings, schedules and documents. You will support junior team members and help them with their development.
You will have a working knowledge of current standards relating to highway design and construction. You will have experience of the design and delivering projects to budget and programme and supporting contractors in the delivery of the construction phase of projects. You will have experience of mentoring and leading junior members of staff. You will have the right to work in the UK, and be based here.
If you have strong highway engineering technical skills, are a good communicator and have a customer focused approach to service delivery then we would be delighted to hear from you. For an informal discussion about this role, please contact the Highway Design Manager Rina Housbey on 01772 533763.
