Job Objectives
As an experienced Cost Engineering Professional in life sciences or data centres, you will establish the required processes, templates and tools, and agree the baseline for cost and schedule, whilst monitoring performance against it and incorporating the impacts of risk, opportunities and change in a controlled manner. In order to do this, you will:
- Identify trends and root causes of deviations against the baseline using lead and lag indicators, recommend remedial actions to drive value for the client.
- Lead the evaluation of the project’s time, cost, and quality targets, applying governance controls as necessary for successful delivery.
- Collaborate with a remote team of cost managers to reach an agreed, market-tested cost baseline and ensure client value.
- Guide and influence the general contractor to progress in line with schedule and within cash flow parameters.
- Act as the main contact to the client, resolving delivery and commercial issues, and preparing reports on time, cost, and quality.
- Control costs using knowledge of conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, contingency principles, and procurement principles.
- Create or work within a cost report, summarizing financials in an executive dashboard.
- Understand and lead change management processes, providing a platform for adding, tracking, monitoring, and approving changes.
- Coordinate planning sessions and workshops to develop the master project schedule, establishing baselines and critical path.
- Understand procurement principles, manage lead times, and communicate prioritization of materials and equipment to meet schedules.
- Work closely with the client to define vendor schedule requirements.
- Participate in risk evaluations, incorporating risks into Monte Carlo simulations for quantitative impacts.
- Stay informed on project changes, communicate updates, and facilitate approvals.
- Hold vendors accountable for schedule updates, ensuring schedules adhere to process and quality standards.
