Job Description Children, Education and Justice Services Pupil Support Assistant- Enhanced support provision) Balerno Community High School Salary: £24,909 – £25,116 (pro-rata for part time and sessional) Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional Balerno High School is a fully comprehensive, non-denominational high school situated in the southwest of Edinburgh. We are recruiting a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) to support young people with learning, social and emotional needs to thrive in mainstream education. The role will involve supporting young people to build social and communication skills, work within all aspects of the curriculum and support positive destinations. You will be positive, a good team player and will be committed to working with young people, especially those with additional support needs. The role will involve building relationships of trust with children and their families. You will be working as part of the Enhanced Support Provision alongside teaching colleagues and a Pupil Support Officer (PSO). The ESP will be part of our wider Integrated Support Team at Balerno led by our Depute Head Teacher Pupil Support. All successful candidates will be given training to help them carry out their role. Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
