A snapshot of the role
We are excited to announce that we\’re recruiting for a new Account Director to join the team. The Account Director (AD) is a critical member of the team, setting the tone for other team members, ensuring that client work meets the required standard and that the values of the organisation are demonstrated throughout the department. This role is at the heart of the agency business model, becoming a valued strategic partner to clients and a supportive role model for junior team members. The AD, together with the Project Lead, sets the tone for their accounts and helps teams enjoy working at dna Communications. They are responsible for people being included, having the opportunity to grow and learn and to feel valued.
The AD has responsibility and is accountable for the profitability, success and growth of their client accounts, and is also be expected to support the health and development of the agency through contributing to non-client activities such as marketing, training and new business development opportunities. As an ambassador for dna, you will be expected to have the ability to think ‘big picture’ in the development of long-term strategic plans to drive client business and further establish dna as a leading communications agency
Key responsibilities
- Is the owner of the core client relationship and is the day-to-day lead on a specific client’s business, providing client counsel and ensuring that the service provided to the client is world-class, meeting the expectations of both the client and the dna senior leadership team
- Is responsible for the account financial health, oversees the financial administration for their account/s, taking responsibility for the account being profitable, that work is done efficiently, being in control of over-servicing and that the team understand their responsibilities, e.g., time sheet management, tracking costs, commissioning suppliers as per the correct processes, etc.
- Ensures client deliverables are appropriate for their audience, uses appropriate language and does not put the reputation of either dna or the client at risk
- Actively identifies opportunities for organic growth – for both dna and the broader DXTRA Network
- Ensures clients are aware of breadth of services available within the DXTRA Network
- Overall programme management responsibility, keeping to timelines and budgets
- Ensuring team cohesion, making sure that all members feel valued and part of the team
- Taking responsibility for the experience of the team
- Line management responsibilities – ADs may be given line management responsibility for colleagues. ADs are expected to understand the importance of line management in supporting team members and appreciate the legal implications of being a line manager
Who are you?
- Five years’ experience of medical communications or equivalent, ideally with experience from an medical communications agency
- Experience of being responsible for a major client project/account (budget >£200,000)
- Experience of working with senior client team members/external stakeholders such as medical Key Opinion Leaders
- Undergraduate scientific degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent written English, with the ability to adapt style and language for various audiences
- Excellent presentation skills, able to present proposals and the rationale behind them to both internal and external senior audiences. Includes excellent PowerPoint formatting skills
- Understanding of the healthcare environment in the UK and Europe, and/or in other geographical regions as required, and topical awareness of key issues facing the delivery of healthcare
- Fully conversant with the relevant codes of practice (ABPI/PMCPA and EFPIA codes of practice), able to advise both clients and team members of the requirements of these codes as they apply to our work
