Responsibilities
- Understand the current state of legislation, regulation, and guidance concerning OTC derivative transactions globally, including Canada, the US, the EU, the UK, and Singapore. The candidate will be responsible for regulations in the region.
- Communicate OTC derivative regulatory requirements to clients and legal representatives in a business-friendly manner to facilitate regulatory documentation finalization.
- Prepare and review legal documentation and disclosures to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate with trading desks to understand client needs and prioritize high-value relationships.
- Provide timely support to trading desks across multiple time zones including UK, North America, Europe, and Asia.
- Explain the importance of OTC derivative regulations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the bank\’s global regulatory framework, credit, and documentation requirements.
- Review and analyze new regulations affecting the dealer, participate in working groups for new initiatives in regulatory documentation.
- Review and analyze the dealer\’s client base to ensure daily regulatory compliance.
- Use technology to monitor workflow and update relevant databases.
- Generate reports and updates as needed.
- Proactively escalate issues in a timely manner.
- Serve as a reliable resource for internal business partners.
Job Requirements
- Law degree required.
- Solid experience in legal, trading documentation, capital markets, or related areas.
- Understanding of Dodd-Frank, EMIR/UK EMIR, Canadian derivatives regulations, and the global regulatory environment.
- Enjoy working on documentation and applying legal and regulatory risk management principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High integrity and strong work ethic, with timely follow-through.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and support global time zones as needed.
