Our client, a leading UK oil storage and chemical terminal, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join their maintenance team in Thames, London. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the opportunity to work in a highly regulated industrial environment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical mechanical equipment.
The role:
- Perform planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on rotating equipment, piping, valves, and fire protection systems
- Conduct hazardous area inspections and ensure compliance with industry safety standards
- Assist in the day-to-day management of ongoing maintenance tasks completed by third-party mechanical contractors
- Ensure all maintenance work is controlled and executed in a safe manner
- Assist with mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting to maximise plant uptime
Mechanical Technician requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Significant experience as a Mechanical Technician in oil storage, chemical manufacturing, or a heavy industrial setting
- Hands-on experience with rotating equipment, valve maintenance, and piping systems
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and CMMS records
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and regulatory compliance
