Purpose
Develop a psychologically informed system that supports the growth of resilient people perform to their potential.
To provide integrated performance psychology support to MCWFC that promotes stable and high-functioning leadership, positive mental health, effective decision making and performance under pressure. Contribute to efficient talent recruitment and positive transition experiences.
Your Impact
1. Provide targeted individual player facing support that promotes performance and/or wellbeing.
2. Provide bespoke leadership development and support to the captains/leadership group to promote positive leadership behaviours on and off the pitch.
3. Deliver individual and group leadership development to the MDT of coaches and practitioners to support the maintenance of a psychologically informed environment.
4. Provide individual support/consultation to football and non-football leaders to create a stable and high-functioning leadership spine.
5. Provide education & processes to promote positive wellbeing of players & staff, & facilitate life-skill development
6. Work with identified players to have documented, formulation-informed interventions, with proposed measures of efficacy.
7. Provide psycho-social insight to influence player & staff recruitment, onboarding & transitions.
8. Use evidence-based psycho-social profiling to develop performance.
What we are looking for
• High integrity, responsible and trustworthy
• Postgraduate qualification in Psychology or Sport Psychology
• BPS Chartered or SEPAR status
• Experience of providing psychological support to elite / professional teams, players, support staff and coaches
• Ability to communicate complex ideas, psychological constructs and interventions with simplicity and clarity to players, coaches and practitioners
• Thorough understanding of high-performance sport
• Experience of evaluating Team’s psychological needs, psychological profiling, MDT intervention design and delivery
• Ability to work independently and as part of a MDT and foster positive working relationships • Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Flexibility and openness to work irregular and unsociable hours outside of ‘normal’ office hours (evening, weekends and bank holidays)
• Highly motivated with a passion for elite / professional sport
• Ability to facilitate group formulation and use psychological theory and frameworks to design interventions
• Experience of providing psychological support to professional Football Teams
• Experience working with elite female athletes (team or individual sport)
• Ability to travel with teams throughout the UK and abroad if required
