A leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm specializing in complex medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure across North America is seeking a talented Transmission Line Engineer. In this role, you will design, analyze, and oversee the development of transmission systems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and efficient solutions. Title and level will be determined based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-voltage transmission lines, including route selection, structure design, and conductor sizing
- Conduct foundation and structural analyses to ensure safety and reliability
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, and project drawings
- Assemble detailed engineering bid packages
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other engineers to ensure project success
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing transmission systems
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., NERC, FERC, local codes)
- Use advanced design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and AutoCAD
- Participate in site visits and inspections to assess infrastructure and identify improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and support staff
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
- 5 years of experience in transmission engineering or related discipline
- Experience with both overhead and underground distribution systems is highly valued
- Proficiency in transmission line design software (PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, M-FAD, LPILE, or similar)
- Ability to interpret geotechnical data and perform structural calculations
- Familiarity with codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, RUS, and ANSI
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience in project management and construction coordination is a plus
