We convert non-recyclable plastic waste into high-value carbon materials, including graphene, for use in electronics, energy, defence, and space technology. Our patented, modular production system is designed for rapid deployment and scalability, driving a circular economy in carbon and advanced materials.
The Opportunity
We are seeking aSenior Engineerwith strong experience in graphene, carbon materials, or 2D/3D nanomaterials to join our core technology team. This is a high-impact role contributing to the scale-up of our proprietary graphene production technology, prototyping next-generation processes and materials, and driving our path to commercial manufacturing. You’ll collaborate directly with the CTO, academic partners, and key stakeholders to support R&D, validation, and investor due diligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical development and prototyping of graphene production from plastic waste
- Design and evaluate lab-scale equipment and process configurations
- Conduct material analysis using Raman spectroscopy, SEM, TEM, and other characterization tools
- Track developments in carbon nanomaterials, 2D materials, and production technologies
- Maintain a structured technical data room to support IP filings, grants, and investor reviews
- Collaborate with universities, external labs, and technology partners on trials and MVP development
- Ensure lab safety, documentation accuracy, and regulatory compliance across projects
Who We’re Looking For
You are a seasoned engineer or scientist with 5–10 years of hands-on experience in graphene or carbon-based materials R&D. You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and bring strong technical leadership to early-stage innovation.
You likely have:
- MSc, MEng, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Nanotechnology
- Proven expertise working with graphene, carbon black, or related nanomaterials
- Deep knowledge of lab-scale prototyping, process design, and materials processing
- Experience operating and interpreting results from advanced characterization instruments
- Strong documentation, data analysis, and technical communication skills
- Preferably based in Greater Manchester
