Location: Durham, Walkerton

Applications are currently being accepted for a Part Time Registered Nurse position for the Acute Care and ER departments at the Durham and Walkerton sites of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered with the Ontario College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
  2. Diploma/Degree from a recognized College/University, BScN preferred
  3. Acute Care experience preferred
  4. ER & Cardiac experience preferred
  5. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills with an ability to set priorities
  6. Demonstrated strong patient/family health teaching skills
  7. Demonstrated effective professional, interpersonal, and therapeutic communication skills required
  8. Strong critical thinking, assessment, observation, interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills
  9. Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, and demonstrated competence in procedures and practice in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Practice and entry to practice competencies for Registered Nurses, of the College of Nurses of Ontario and regulations of the Regulated Health Professions Act
  10. Demonstrates knowledge, experience and the ability to care for patients with the following:
  1. Initiation and maintenance of IV therapy
  2. Administration of medication above the drip chamber
  3. Blood and blood product administration
  4. Blood glucose monitoring
  5. Nasogastric tubes
  6. Wound management skills
  7. Routine and additional infection control precautions
  8. Normal and abnormal lab values
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a collaborative team approach and to adhere to accepted standards of personal conduct
  • Commitment to continued professional development and learning
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Willingness to participate in process improvement
  • Committed to the values of the corporation and to courtesy and compassion in patient care
  • A positive work and attendance record is essential
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Basic computer literacy required e.g. email, clinical applications, intra/internet
  • Knowledge and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Control, and Health Centre policies and procedures
